Harold E. Tanner, 92, of Hampton Falls, died May 3, 2022 at his home with family by his side. He was born January 4, 1930 in Fleetwood, PA the son of the late Charles and Annie (Fowden) Tanner.

Harold graduated from Haverhill High School in Haverhill, MA and the Charles Arnold Trade School. He was a US Air Force veteran, serving in Itazuke Japan during the Korean War. Harold was employed as a sheet metal worker at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for 25 years, retiring as Foreman of Sheetmetal Shop 17 in 1985. In his younger years, his interests included hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed yard sales and spending time with his family.

He shared 61 years of marriage with his wife, the late Doris (Creighton) Tanner who predeceased him in 2018. They were married on June 9, 1956.

Family members include two daughters, Deborah Chaput and her husband Lester of North Hampton, Karen Thornton and her husband Jon of Strafford, and son David Tanner and his wife Jennifer of Rochester. Harold leaves four grandchildren, Gregory Chaput and his wife Erin, Brian Chaput and his wife Caitlin, Ryan Thornton and his wife Lindsey and Lydia Tanner, and seven great-grandchildren, Jacob, Eva, Evelyn, Tanner, Lucas and Emilia Chaput and Lillian Thornton.

Visiting hours will be from 11 A.M. to 12 P.M. on Thursday June 9, 2022 at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. Services will immediately follow at 12 P.M. Burial will be in the West View Cemetery in Hampton Falls. Friends and relatives are respectfully invited. In lieu of traditional remembrances, donations may be made to Harold’s favorite organization, Toys for Tots.
