Governor Eric Holcomb will Thursday join officials from General Motors Co. (NYSE: GM) for a major economic development announcement in Grant County. The event will take place at the GM Marion Metal Center.
The governor’s office says Gerald Johnson, executive vice president of GM Global Manufacturing and Sustainability, and GM Marion Operations Plant Executive Director Doug Hanly will be on hand for the announcement.
No other details have been made available.
The Marion Metal Center opened in 1956 and produces sheet metal stamped parts and blanks for multiple GM plants to support Chevrolet, GMC, Buick and Cadillac vehicles, according to the automaker’s website.
The facility covers nearly 2.8 million square feet.
In August 2016, GM said it would invest $91 million in new equipment and upgrades at the Marion facility, retaining about 120 jobs.
