Japanese company seeks other suppliers in case of emergency

OSAKA -- Japan's Daikin Industries plans to establish a supply chain to make air conditioners without having to rely on Chinese-made parts by March 2024, as the manufacturing sector grows increasingly wary of China's strict zero-COVID policy.

Daikin, one of the world's top air conditioner makers, will make its own core components, including parts that help conserve energy, and also encourage its suppliers to manufacture their products outside of China.
