After Thursday’s tentative labor deal between freight railroads and train crew unions, rail stocks slipped lower Friday—but no more than the overall market.

The threat of a Friday strike that would have idled 30% of American freight movement drew President Joe Biden and several cabinet members into the negotiations. A strike has been averted—at least until we see whether rank-and-file accepts the deal.
